How do I find out what emergency incidents are happening in my community? There are several great sources for information about incidents happening in Nevada County.
Apps such as: Pulse Point or Watch Duty (great app for fire information) Websites: Nevada County Sheriff’s Daily Log and Yuba Net, or Police Scanners. Community Facebook groups can also be a source of information but not always reliable.
Does Nevada County have a new alert system? Nevada County has transitioned to a new opt-in alert and warning system, Nevada County Alerts, which replaces CodeRED. What are Evacuation Zones? In the event of a wildfire or an emergency, law enforcement and fire agencies issue evacuation warnings or evacuation orders for impacted areas called zones.
Authorities will use zone names in emergency alerts, media releases, and on social media to notify residents which areas are under an evacuation warning or order.
Know Your Zone & Find Current Evacuation Information In order to understand whether your area is under an evacuation warning or order, you need to know and remember your zone name. 1. Go to https://protect.genasys.com/ 2. Enter your address into the search bar 3. Your zone will appear in the pop-up window 4. It is a good idea to keep your zone number on your refrigerator or next to the phone
