Several areas in Penn Valley do not have municipal water fire hydrants for fighting remote fires. If possible it is a good idea to have water storage on your property for fires. Water storage is often in large tanks or cisterns, provides a crucial backup for firefighters (and yourself) when municipal water is unavailable, especially during power outages in wildfire zones, requiring a gas-powered pump and clear access for engines. A common setup involves large tanks (5,000+ gallons for homes) connected to a pump and hose, with easy-to-see outlets and vegetation cleared for access, ensuring you have water for defense and suppression.
